Who We Are and What We Do

The Lakeville Arts Council, as part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council(MCC), promotes excellence, access, education and  diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences, in order to improve the quality of life for our community and its residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of our town.

For more than 30 years, the MCC has invested in the cultural life of Massachusetts. The LAC receives an annual appropriation from the state legislature. It then makes approves grants to nonprofit cultural organizations, schools, communities and individual artists, funding programs that use the arts and the humanities to build strong, diverse, livable communities.  To check out more information about the MCC, click here to visit their website.

A few of the projects funded by the Lakeville Arts Council through the MCC grants include:

  • Theatre One Productions, Lakeville Council on Aging, Soule Farm Educational Center, Lakeville Public Library, Massachusetts Audubon, and the Lakeville Historical  Society among others. Grant funding is also considered for individual Artist based projects. For a list of the 2018 Grants, please click here.

In addition to the distribution of MCC grants, the Lakeville Arts Council is active in the community; annual Lakeville Arts and   Music Festival since 2005, All That Glitters Holiday Shopping,  three annual FREE July Center Stage Concerts on Tuesday evenings since 2014, and every few years the Council has sent high school students to the BSO and/or the MFA for a day experience. These are just a few examples of Council originated ideas.
