Dog Licenses
In accordance with provisions of General Laws Chapter 140, section 137, all dogs six months old or over MUST be licensed. Lakevilles licenses are for a calendar year and are due and payable on January 1st
of every year. You will be reminded of this by the expiration date on
the dog license paper that accompanies the dog tag, and by way of a
fluorescent notice sent with each census in January.
A
current rabies certificate must be presented to obtain a license, and a
spayed/neutered certificate must be recorded with this office to
receive a reduction of license fee. Spayed/Neutered dogs are $10.00
and $16.00 for all non-spayed/neutered dogs.
Failure to license by April 30th is subject to a $10.00 late fee.
If you no longer have a dog, you MUST notify the Town Clerks office as this remains an open record and will eventually end up in court.
At the present time, in order to have a kennel of any size, you must be in a business zone and be granted a special permit from the Board of Appeals.
