MBTA Commuter Rail Communities
The Town of Lakeville is one of over 100 cities and towns designated as MBTA Commuter Rail Communities. As a result of Legislative action in 2020, communities must plan to allow multi-family housing by right within a half mile of a train station within or abutting their communities. All communities are just beginning to review the requirements and will begin to conduct the planning necessary to comply with the requirements during 2022 and 2023. The Planning Department will be organizing Lakeville’s effort to comply with these new requirements. The State has issued the following two documents to help residents better understand the next steps.
