COVID-19 UPDATED Transfer Station Information

The Lakeville Transfer Station will reopen the recycling program on Tuesday, May 26th.

We are asking residents to pre-sort their recycling to the best of their ability.  Pre-sorting will reduce the amount of time needed to dispose of these materials, reducing wait times as well as exposure.

The following items will be accepted beginning May 26th:

  • Cardboard - No pizza boxes or waxed cardboard (for example: ice cream containers, boxed soup/broth)
  • Newspaper
  • Mixed Paper
  • Plastics - #1 - #7
  • Grass Clippings and Leaves - Brush and Yard Waste will not be accepted
  • Scrap Metal, Tin Cans
  • Oil & Antifreeze
  • Glass
  • Clothing/Textile Donation Bins will be open
  • Sharps - please see attendant

Residents are expected to maintain current social distancing guidelines.  Depending on use, there may be periods of time when residents are asked to wait in their cars before disposal to ensure the safety of the employees and others.  Masks and gloves should be worn.

While we are attempting to open these portions of the facility, the volume of incoming recyclables may necessitate a temporary halt of some materials allowing our operator to transport the container to our recycling partners.  Any anticipated temporary closure will be posted on the Town website, Facebook page, and Transfer Station answering machine (508-947-6599).

At this time we will not be accepting any items that require payment.  These items include, but are not limited to bulky waste, televisions, mattresses, tires, propane tanks, brush, and white goods.  Stickers will not be sold at this time and the swap shop will not be open.

We would like to thank the residents of Lakeville for their continued patience while we work out how to best accommodate the residents while balancing personal safety concerns.  These are trying times and you have shown your dedication to our recycling program and Transfer Station facility, we truly appreciate your patronage.   The facility will be opened in phases, the next update will address additional items, monetary transactions, and sticker sales, or we may hold to the items listed on May 26th.  This update is expected on June 2nd.   If you have any questions, please contact the Highway Department office at 508-947-9521.
