FY27 Override & Budget

The Town of Lakeville is entering Fiscal Year 2027 with a significant budget deficit caused by rising fixed costs, shrinking local revenue, and stagnant State Aid.

At a meeting held on Tuesday, March 17, the Select Board voted to present an override in the amount of $4,915,700 to voters, with the intention of gradually phasing in the associated tax increases over FY2027 ($2,615,700), FY2028 ($1,300,000), and FY2029 ($1,000,000).  This vote is a two-step process that allows Lakeville voters to approve or deny the proposed override.

First, a Special Town Election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 for a ballot vote on the proposed override.  If the FY2027 override passes the ballot vote, then the override budget will be presented to voters as a warrant article at the Monday, June 8, 2026 Annual Town Meeting.  The override must pass at both the Special Town Election and Annual Town Meeting in order to proceed.
