LAKEVILLE HISTORICAL COMMISSION
The Lakeville Historical Commission is immersed in all areas of the Town’s history.
The Historical Commission inventories historical houses, buildings and sites in Lakeville and works to add them to the Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System {MACRIS}.
It holds oversight for the maintenance of the Historic Town House/Town Hall and the policies for its use, as well as oversight for any work done on the Historic Library.
The Commission organizes observances for Memorial Day and Veterans Day and maintains and updates the Honor Roll. It plans celebrations for milestone events in the Town’s history. Plans are currently underway for Lakeville’s 175th Anniversary in 2028.
The Commission presents the Boston Post Cane to the oldest accepting resident of Lakeville.
The Historical Commission supports the Local History Room in the Lakeville Public Library, where many valuable books and articles about the Town and surrounding areas are held. On behalf of the Town it accepts photos, information and other materials related to Lakeville’s history.
The Lakeville Historical Commission fields questions from those who seek specific information on people, places and other aspects of the Town’s history.
