Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Committee

The Freetown/Lakeville Regional School District Committee consists of eight (8) members: four (4) members from Lakeville and four (4) members from Freetown. They are each elected for a three year term, with registered voters in each town voting for all positions.

Election Information

Freetown/Lakeville Regional School District Committee members are required to be residents and registered voters of either Freetown or Lakeville and shall be elected for a three-year term in the district-wide annual elections. Candidates for the Committee from all the member towns shall appear on the ballot of each member town, after being properly nominated by 50 registered voters from their respective town and after the time for objecting to nomination papers has expired.  A person shall be declared elected to the Committee only if they have received the highest number of votes cast for the office in all of the member towns.  The Town Clerks from each member town shall forward to the district clerk a certified copy of the elections results, and the district clerk shall declare the results.  The persons so elected shall be sworn into office by the Town Clerk in the town in which they are registered to vote.
