Youth Work Permits

work permit

All teenagers under 18 years of age must complete a work permit application and get a work permit before starting a new job. You must first obtain the job, then obtain the work permit.

For minors who are residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, permits are issued by the superintendent of schools for the municipality in which the minor lives, regardless of where they attend school. Any individual looking to obtain a work permit must first contact the Superintendent's Office of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District' to discuss what steps may be necessary to obtain the work permit:

Freetown/Lakeville Regional School District
98 Howland Road
Lakeville, MA 02347
Phone: 508-923-2000 or 508-763-5183

For more information, including but not limited to child labor laws, please visit Mass.gov.

Youth work permits are not obtained at city or town halls.
