LPD AnchorThe Lakeville Police Department's Boating Enforcement Unit collaborates with boaters and lakefront residents to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment on Long Pond. Lakeville Police Officers have received specialized training and crew the department’s patrol boat. These officers liaise with the Massachusetts Environmental Police. Their duties include enforcing boating safety, addressing boating under the influence, and conducting search and rescue operations. Additionally, the patrol boat is equipped with advanced 360-degree Sonar technology to aid in underwater searches.

Long Pond is one of the largest natural ponds in Massachusetts, covering 1,721 acres. It is approximately one mile wide and four miles long, containing eleven miles of shoreline. The average depth is approximately six feet, with a maximum depth of around twelve feet.
