LPD AnchorThe Lakeville Police Department, Boating Enforcement Unit, works with boaters and lakefront residents to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment on Long Pond. Lakeville Police Officers have received specialized training and crew the department’s patrol boat. These officers liaise with the Massachusetts Environmental Police. Their duties include boating safety enforcement, boating under the influence, and search and rescue operations. In addition, the patrol boat is equipped with advanced 360 Sonar technology to aid underwater searches.

When on duty, the police boat can be contacted by radio on Marine VHF Channel 16 or by contacting communications at 508-947-4422, Dial 911 for emergencies.

Long Pond is one of the largest natural ponds in Massachusetts, covering 1,721 acres. It is approximately one mile wide by four miles long and contains eleven miles of shoreline. The average depth is six feet, with a maximum of approximately twelve feet.
